Plexus donates meals to Mesa, Salt River police

Plexus Worldwide is recognizing the work of first responders during the coronavirus crisis.

To ensure officers and staff at local police departments have access to nutritious meals during the pandemic, Plexus donated 1,480 bags of Lean Meal Replacement Shakes to the Mesa Police Department and Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Police Department. Each bag contains 14 servings, making these donations equivalent to more than 20,700 meals.

Plexus also donated one blender bottle with every lean package so officers could have balanced meals on the go, according to a press release.

“We want to send a huge thank you to Plexus for thinking of our Mesa PD employees during this time,” Tara Hall, Mesa Police Department community partnership administrator, said in a prepared statement. “We appreciate the support our extended community has shown us as we continue to serve our Mesa residents.”

Plexus employees delivered the donations to both departments on May 7 and had a chance to meet some of the first responders and thank them for their service to the community.

“The Salt River Police Department is proud to partner with Plexus once again in their continued support of SRPD,” Joe Orozco, SRPD public informatio officer said in a prepared statement.

“Plexus previously sponsored a police dog named ‘Plex’ for the SRPD to continue to keep the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community safe and has followed that trend once again. Plexus has donated their signature product Lean Whey with blender bottles to help keep our Officers in tip-top shape during the current crisis. We appreciate our partners at Plexus and will be putting their product to good use.”

Plexus has long supported the Salt River Police Department, which has jurisdiction in the Pima Center office complex on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, where Plexus’ global headquarters are located, a release states.

“Plexus is a strong supporter of everyone who is working to make our local community a better place to live, and that extends to the men and women who keep everyone in our community safe,” Mary Ann Luciano, vice president of philanthropy, said in a prepared statement.

“We like to say Plexus is a health and happiness company and giving back to others is an important part of our One Plexus culture.”

Plexus’ Philanthropy Department primarily supports nonprofit organizations in the Valley that encourage healthy communities, healthy living, and healthy environments. They also encourage Plexus’ many independent sales representatives to support nonprofits in their own communities around the globe.
