Senior pets spend nearly four times longer in shelters than younger animals, according to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

According to a news release from the AWL, which adds that t's he state’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter,  is on a mission to change that fact about senior ppets, and is ruunniing another promotion to help find homes for them.

Through May 15, any AAWL pets 1 year old or older will have waived adoption fees, thanks to BISSEL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters initiative.

The release remnds potential owners that senior pets often are already trained.

The waived fees aply at both AAWL’s Main Shelter, 25 N. 40th Street in Phoenix. and at the Chandler Fashion Center's second-floor adoption  storefront.
