Most high school clubs meet once or twice after school during the week, but the Chaparral High School Firebird Robotics club meets six days a week.
The students have only ramped up their dedication in recent weeks, as the competition season began on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Firebird Robotics competes in the First Robotics Competition and there are only two tournaments in Arizona each year. The students spend the offseason recruiting new club members and easing them into the world of robotics, but according to sophomore Manish Reddy, they will spend more than five hours each Saturday to prepare for the competitions.
