I’ve lived in the Chandler Unified School District for decades and as a lifelong Republican, I've dedicated my life to making sure that every student in our community can access a high-quality education. That mission started in 1996 when I began my service on the district governing board, which lasted for 20 years!
Now, I have a school named after my husband and me, and six grandkids who attend — or will attend — Chandler schools. A lot of things have changed. But there’s one thing that hasn’t: the excellence of our neighborhood’s public schools.
Our community schools have a graduation rate nearly 15 points higher than the statewide average. We’re ranked as the best school district in the state. We have some of the lowest class sizes in our area. And our students earn thousands of college credits through AP and dual enrollment programs.
Chandler’s schools are doing their job preparing students for the future. But if we don’t continue the override and pass a new bond, that may be at risk.
Our state’s public education funding is among the lowest in the country, leaving schools without enough funding to support the programs and people that make them great. That makes the funding from bonds and overrides vital to the success of our schools.
Our students and our community need continued support. I’m proud to vote for both the bond and override this November. I hope you’ll join me to keep our Chandler schools excellent and continue to support our community.
