Nonprofit offers free pool fences as drowning deaths reach record high

Child Crisis Arizona and the Salt River Project have opened applications for a Pool Fence Safety Program, which provides free pool fences to eligible families in Maricopa County, following a record number of drowning deaths in the region.

The year 2024 was when the highest total of drownings -- 75 -- in Maricopa and Pinal counties since records were first recorded in 2005. 

The program, now in its fifth year, will be accepting applications through Sunday, April 5.
