All winter it shaped up to be the least predictable Open Division bracket in any sport since Arizona adopted the playoff format.

The 2025 girls basketball open did not disappoint. #2 seed Millennium was the only team with home court advantage to win a quarterfinal Thursday night - and the Tigers beat the defending champions.

Millennium (22-6) built a 40-27 cushion after three quarters and held on after #7 Phoenix Xavier College Prep (20-9) got as close as three in the final four minutes. The Tigers regrouped with a 9-4 closing kick to win 53-45.

U.S. vs. Mexico: ‘War’ that ends at final whistle in Glendale

OPINION — On Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., the United States’ men’s soccer team will play Mexico at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. On paper, it is a friendly. Nobody in my family has ever used that word for this game. Mexico can lose to the United States in almost any sport and take it well. Basketball, baseball, a bad night in the ring. We shake hands and go to dinner. Soccer is different.

Why Stephanie Walsh is the state senator LD 14 deserves

OPINION — As a resident of Legislative District 14 for 20 years, I want leadership that reflects the everyday priorities of our community, not partisan talking points. That is why I am supporting Stephanie Walsh for the Arizona State Senate, and why I find it troubling that Mylie Biggs is being considered a viable candidate to represent our families.
