Gas prices dip in East Valley, Scottsdale

Gas prices in the East Valley and Scottsdale have come down over the last week but remain higher than they were one month ago, AAA Arizona figures show.

The average price for a gallon in the East Valley was $4.68, according to numbers released Tuesday, Oct. 25, 13 cents lower than a week ago. A month ago, regular was selling for, on average, $4.33 a gallon.

In Scottsdale, the price for a gallon was $4.75 compared to $4.82 a week ago.

AAA calculates prices in Scottsdale and the East Valley separately.

Area prices reflect similar declines nationally. The average pump price across the United States dipped 9 cents and now stands at $3.79.

The lower costs are due primarily to lower oil prices and fewer drivers than usual fueling up, according to AAA.

“Global recession fears coupled with the Biden administration’s plan to continue tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve into December has helped temper oil prices,” Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said.

Today’s national average of $3.79 is nine cents higher than a month ago and 41 cents more than a year ago.

This time in 2021, East Valley drivers were paying $3.54, according to AAA. Filling up with regular in Scottsdale cost $3.56 12 months ago.
