Fashion show, charity events slated at Chandler mall

The Chandler Fashion Center mall has several free and discounted events set up for the weeks ahead.

On an ongoing basis, the annual Care Card charity shopping event through Sunday, Oct. 26. Each fall, Valley residents have the opportunity to extend their shopping dollars by giving to charity with every purchase.

The Board of Visitors Care Card, available for $60, gives cardholders the chance to save 20% on purchases from hundreds of participating retailers and restaurants for a 10-day period.

There are about 10 participating retailers at the mall this year, with  The BIG Pink Bus, a mobile 3D mammography program of Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, as this year's beneficiary.

One of the events is Fall Forward, Fashion Back. That's a fashion show involving today’s fall trends, set for Thursday, Oct. 23.

Seating will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Macy’s Court on the lower level, with the show running from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A model search is underway and all are welcome; learn more about how to participate as a model, sponsor or table vendor at chandlerfashioncenter.com.

The show is a partnership with Macy’s, Chandler Gilbert Community College and D2 – Homes for the Homeless. The show will feature casual, business and formal attire, as well as upcycled styles featuring designs of the decades.

Attendees will also enjoy live performances, including an appearance by the Chandler Gilbert Community College Dance Team, deejay entertainment and raffle prizes.

Young women affected by foster care will have the opportunity to take part in a day of empowerment through pampering, shopping and uplifting stories from inspirational women in the community during a special daylong event on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Each young woman will be paired with a volunteer to shop for an outfit, get a hair consultation with a cut and style, and receive a face-care consultation, in addition to hearing from a motivational speaker and program during a lunch provided by Foster Arizona.

The Collective Oktoberfest Market will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 25 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 About 50 local vendors will offer an array of options for holiday décor, pumpkins for Halloween, and gift ideas to get holiday shopping underway.

The market is located on the north side of the shopping center, in the parking lot next to Scheels.

The Scheels Boo-Bash is set for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28. The first 200 children in attendance will receive an exclusive Scheels trick-or-treat bag.

Stations throughout the store will give kids opportunities to collect goodies, while the training room will offer fun Halloween games, a chance to visit with special guests from the Arizona Cardinals and to compete in a costume contest.
