Families on the Gila River Indian Community were evacuated Saturday as a fire burned 415 acres, affected power lines and produced smoke plumes that could be seen for miles in the West Valley.
There was zero containment of the fire as of 8:15 p.m. Sept. 28, according to a release on the GRIC’s Facebook page.
There were no reported injuries and no homes were damaged, but evacuated families were advised not to return to their residences.
The fire is near Santa Cruz and Cemetery roads.
