Downtown Chandler enhanced-property assessment approved

Not lost among the higher-profile items heard by the Chandler City Council at its nearly four-hour May 22 regular meeting was a measure that affects downtown businesses.

Council unanimously approved a resolution that authorizes a fiscal 2026 annual tax assessment for properties within the Downtown Chandler Enhanced Municipal Services District.

Assessments in the district are based on three factors, a staff report states. One-third of the assessment is a fraction of assessed value, one-third from building square footage and a final one-third from land square footage.
