Burrito-eating competition is for Boys & Girls Club

Posted

National Burrito Day is Thursday, April 4.

To commemorate, Downtown Chandler’s locally owned Mexican restaurant, Recreo Cantina, is teaming up with the nonprofit Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley to host a burrito-eating challenge.

On April 4, the Adios-Mio Burrito Challenge will test those who dare to devour a spicy 2-pound carne asada burrito in 12 minutes or faster.

Successful participants won't be charged for their burrito. They'll also receive a special burrito challenge t-shirt and the opportunity for their photo to be featured on the wall of burrito champions at Recreo Cantina.

Recreo will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the challenge to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.

Rules include:

  • Must finish the entire burrito within 12 minutes.
  • Participants may only drink water during the challenge.
  • Participants may use utensils or hands
  • No sharing -- only one participant per burrito.

Visit Recreo Cantina at 28 S. San Marcos Place, across from A.J. Chandler Park, on April 4 to participate.
