In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Chandler International Film Festival has announced a partnership with the city of Chandler for a special screening of a film inspired by a valiant effort by some Valley students.
A screening of the 2015 film “Spare Parts”will take place at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, at the LOOK Dine-in Cinema, 1 W. Chandler Blvd., Downtown Chandler.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by visiting this link. The event is part of Chandler Contigo -- a month-long series of family-friendly cultural and educational events celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, proudly presented by The City of Chandler's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division.
The event will include a red carpet entrance, Q&A session with the film’s director and a writer, celebrity appearances, and an after-party.
“Spare Parts,” directed by Sean McNamara and written by Elissa Matsueda, tells the story of four Carl Hayden Community High School students on their journey to win a prestigious robotics competition.
The cast includes award-winning actors Jamie Lee Curtis, George Lopez, Carlos Penavega and others.
The red carpet welcome will begin at 1 p.m. Celebrity guests and local public figures will be in attendance, including the Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke; the film’s director, Sean McNamara; the film’s writer, Elissa Matsueda; the CEO of Si Se Puede, Fredi Lajvardi, and the real-life inspiration for one of the film’s characters, Lorenzo Santillan.
Following the screening and Q&A session, attendees can make their way to the after party in the LOOK Bar and Lobby.
Translated from Spanish as "Chandler With You," this initiative offers a diverse range of experiences across Chandler, providing numerous opportunities to honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage.
