Chandler’s 2024 State of the City video “Struthio” has earned a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for graphic arts.

The award-winning video features a series of visual and special effects, encountered by Mayor Kevin Hartke as he navigated a fictional local gaming experience to open this State of the City speech, according to a news release.

Members of the team that produced the video were recognized by Hartke and the Chandler City Council at its Dec. 9 regular meeting.

Film-quality videos have become a staple of Chandler’s State of the City event, which celebrates the people, history, culture and accomplishments of the community.

Chandler produced videos also earned two Rocky Mountain Emmy nominations in the commercial and public service announcement categories.

The “Join Team Chandler” ads, nominated in the commercial category, promoted career opportunities for recruiting police officers, public works professionals and other areas of need. Chandler’s Go Blonde water conservation video encouraged residents to save water during winter months by not overseeding lawns.

These videos mark Chandler’s first Rocky Mountain Emmy Award and Emmy nominations. As a division of the National Arts and Sciences Academy, the Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards celebrate the achievements of media professionals and excellence in media productions in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and the El Centro region of Southern California.
