Chandler teacher wins $5K, money for his school

Chicanos Por La Causa’s Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards program specifically recognizes Latino teachers in Arizona whose passion positively impacts the learning environment and inspires future generations.

Each year, four teachers from Arizona are recognized, according to a news release.

John Flores, a robotics and computer science teacher from Bogle Junior High School in Chandler has been named a recipient of the 2025 awards.
Flores received a $5,000 cash award. Bogle also received a stipend of $2,500.

“I really enjoy teaching,” Flores said in the release. “It was a great opportunity to share everything I’ve learned in life so far with the students and open up doors for them to also enjoy things they might have never discovered before until they got into my classroom.”

Flores said his Esperanza nomination states his teaching “cultivates a deep sense of belonging, ensuring every student feels valued, heard, and supported, fostering an inclusive environment where they can thrive, not only academically but also in their personal growth and development.”

Flores and the other three Esperanza awardees will be honored during a ceremony at the PERA Club in May. The Esperanza Awards have four corporate sponsors.
