Chandler school board approves resource center contract

A board member called out one of her peers from the dais at the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board’s Governing Board Sept. 11 meeting, saying his inquires have been repeatedly made in ignorance.

An exchange between first-term board members Patti Serrano and Kurt Rohrs happened during a discussion over renewing a district agreement with the East Valley Dream Center — a nonprofit that will operate a community resource center at Andersen Junior High School.

The board voted 4-1 to approve the agreement, with Rohrs voting against it. Rohrs had several issues with the five-page contract, including locating behavioral health services on campus and concerns the school district could or is getting too deep into behavioral health.
