Chandler school board has light agenda for Wednesday

The Chandler Unified School District Governing Board is set to vote on a pair of contracts at Wednesday’s regular meeting. The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at CUSD’s central office on Frye Road.
Votes on a revised special education contract and on another resource center agreement are the only action items on the agenda for Wednesday night’s Chandler Unified School District Governing Board regular meeting.
Wednesday’s 7 p.m. regular meeting, to be held at CUSD offices on Frye Road, include revisions to a contract that was originally with one organization.
The board approved an estimated $600,000 SAVE (Strategic Alliance for Volume Expenditures) consortium contract for special education contract services awarded to Maxim Healthcare Services at its June 12 meeting. Since then, Maxim has been split into two separate entities, Amergis and Maxim Healthcare.
Amergis will continue providing services under the June 12 contract while Maxim Healthcare was awarded a new SAVE contract specifically for 1-to-1 nursing services. The board is being asked to approve a newly numbered contract in what appears to be a cost-neutral move.
The resource center agreement will be between CUSD and the East Valley Dream Center, which will allow EVDC to operate a community resource center at Andersen Junior High School.
The resource center will offer a variety of programs, a staff report states, including behavioral health services provided by Liv Well Behavioral. CUSD will provide referrals of students and families to the center — after consultation with each student’s parent or guardian.
Also set for Wednesday’s meeting are a short consent agenda and a presentation and recognitions for Hispanic Heritage Month.
A 5:45 p.m. pre-meeting work session will be devoted to the district’s assessment testing and data.
