Addressing utility rates is one of the dozens of public tasks the Chandler City Council will be asked to take on this week.
Monday’s 4 p.m. work session will be a utility rate update discussion, with an overview of utility rate updates, a list of changes impacting the prior cost-of-service study and rate adjustment options to get general council direction.
Chandler’s leaders, who frequently point out steep utility rate increases in nearby communities, have said they try to avoid sudden shocks to consumers through a biennial process of reviewing cost of service and implementing what it considers modest rate increases on Jan. 1 of the following year.
