Chandler Council candidate debate is Tuesday evening

Posted

The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is hosting a City Council candidate debate Tuesday, May 7,  5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.,  in the Chandler City Council Chambers, 88 E. Chicago Street, Downtown Chandler.

The event is designed to facilitate civic participation and community engagement.

This debate will provide Chandler residents with insight into the vision and plans of candidates running for the three positions on the council that are up in the July 30 primary election.

The free debate, hosted by the Chandler Chamber Good Government Committee, is open to the public. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

The committee has created questions in a non-biased and business-oriented fashion, for the purpose of defining the candidate's views on the government and its role in the business community.

The free event will be moderated by Garrick Taylor. He has led government affairs and communications for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry for more than a decade.

Interested attendees can register on the Chandler Chamber of Commerce website. Seats are limited so early registration is encouraged.

In the days and weeks after the debate, the Good Government Committee will discuss candidate evaluations and make an official endorsement recommendation to the Chandler Chamber Executive Committee for review. The executive committee will then present the final recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval and an official Chandler Chamber endorsement.
