The Chandler City Council acknowledged the standouts and many other contributors at a July meeting for an annual community service event completed in March in the Traditions East neighborhood.
March 21 was when the 15th annual For Our City Day brought together almost 700 volunteers —including almost 100 city employees — gave up a warm Saturday morning for the manual labor of 38 projects, including painting 57,000 square feet of walls, moving and distributing 80 tons of new gravel, and other outdoor grooming.
The city placed 14 dumpsters in the area to help residents get rid of unwanted items. A live band, food trucks and makeshift booths around Pima Park were all part of noontime wrap of the event.
