As its urban-transit, rideshare-type Flex program was taking off in 2023, the city of Chandler submitted a congressionally directed spending request through Rep. Greg Stanton’s Office to support the program.
The funding request was advanced successfully through the federal appropriation process, culminating in the Federal Transit Administration awarding $1 million in grant funding to the region’s designated recipient — the City of Phoenix — on July 20 of this year.
Stanton was at the Chandler City Council’s Oct. 15 regular meeting with a giant faux check, representing the $1 million grant.
