Chandler business focuses on brain imaging

Posted

Dominic DiLoreto  has founded Mind Rx, a brain-based health service in Chandler.

With many advances in technology during the 14 years DiLoreto  has been in the field, he wants to take an approach to brain performance  that's more like how doctors and nurses approach physical health and injuries, such as broken bones.

DiLoreto  said he has really enjoyed his time with the Neurofeedback Program in Scottsdale. However, as a business owner, he'll be in a position to bring in more varied types of procedures and techniques that he wants to incorporate into his practice.

DiLoreto  says, on the Mind Rx website, that neurofeedback brain training is "biofeedback, which provides immediate, real-time feedback on brain activity and uses operant training to reinforce a healthy brain."

Briefly describe your business/services offered:  Brain-based mental health.

What I’m excited about and why: I believe it is time for a new standard of mental health that focuses on analyzing brain imaging like we would a broken bone, through qEEG/brain mapping, then treating based on analyzing the image. From there, we’re able to treat the root with neurofeedback and brain training.

Professional background highlights: Two professional highlights would be presenting to the American Psychological Association as well as presenting a transcranial stimulation device to the FDA.

Where I was before and why I left: I was previously the director of the Neurofeedback Program in Scottsdale, at a neuropsychology clinic. Under my supervision, it became a five-year Best of Scottsdale Neurofeedback Therapy Program. It was a very successful program but there are other modalities that I wanted to offer that could make neurofeedback that much better.

When and why I started my business/employment here: Everything that Mind Rx is, and will be, has been based on an accumulation of professional experience over the last 14 years. It’s been beautiful to see it come to fruition, even better to start it in the community where my wife and I are raising our two daughters.

Favorite community cause and why: The Miracle League -- a baseball league for autistic children. I admire the Miracle League because it offers the opportunity for kids on the spectrum to play in a safe, minimally competitive environment where they can learn and have fun. So it combines two of my passions: sports and helping others.

People who inspire me (and how): I have several colleagues in mind, my previous boss from Houston (Texas), and my dad. They inspire me because I love to surround myself with people who are not only brilliant, but also humble. I appreciate people who are comfortable with themselves and understand the underlying humanity in each of us.

My guiding philosophy: Life isn't worth letting anxiety steal from you.
