Local aspiring authors can get insights and personal consultation with published young adult author Amy Fellner Dominy as part of the Chandler Public Library’s Writer-in-Residence Program.
Through December, Dominy will host 1-on-1 consultations and group workshops with local aspiring authors to help them fine-tune their work, according to a news release. During the consultations, Dominy can review participants’ work, address questions and provide overall expertise on becoming an author.
Her workshops include character and dialogue development techniques, guidelines to create successful picture books and how to create strong query letters for publishers.
“Chandler is full of aspiring and published authors, and this program helps build a community of like-minded people who can lean on one another through their author journey," Chandler Library Program Manager Jean Reynolds said in the news release.
The Writer-in-Residence series offers sessions at three Chandler Library branches, including Basha, Downtown and Sunset, now through Dec. 19. For a full schedule of sessions and to register, click here.
Amy Fellner Dominy is an author and educator who has written books for toddlers, tweens and teens.
The program series is funded partly by the Arizona State Library, which is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
