The new wireless communications facility is to be attached to an existing Salt River Project utility pole.
A permit recently was approved for a wireless communications facility on a 75-foot-tall pole northeast of South Mountain View Road and U.S. Highway 60 in an unincorporated area of Pinal County east of Apache Junction,
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Dec. 18 to approve a special-use permit for the facility on a 2.5-acre parcel.
The owner and applicant is Salt River Project. The new wireless communications facility is to be attached to an existing utility pole, Senior Planner Glenn Bak told the board.
“Items of consideration (are) enhanced coverage needs for the AJ area, this would be placed on an existing pole so no new pole needed or anything. Traffic impacts are of course minimal and no letters of opposition were received,” he said.
T-Mobile equipment is to be added to the utility pole at the Carrel Substation on 32nd Avenue east of South Mountain View Road on the most-eastern of two poles in front of the substation, SRP official Ashley Scott told the board.
It will have a 4-foot-wide array with two antennas per sector. All ground equipment will be behind a wall at the substation and screened from view, she said.
