PHOENIX — The Arizona Interscholastic Association has released the final rankings and playoff brackets for 3A through 5A football teams, and a number of North Valley teams will continue on to the post season.
In 5A, three North Valley teams secured a first-week bye. Despite all three teams having their final game of the season cancelled due to weather, Desert Mountain, Horizon and Notre Dame Prep swept the top three spots in order. They’ll now have a bye next week.
Cactus Shadows finished no. 10 overall and will host no. 23 Canyon del Oro on Friday, Nov. 6. The winner of that game will advance on to face no. 7 Millennium on the road. Chaparral finished no. 14 overall after also having the final game of the season cancelled due to weather. The Firebirds will host no. 19 McClintock, where the winner will advance on to face no. 3 Notre Dame Prep.
Meanwhile in 4A, Arcadia, who anticipated they’d have a first-week bye, dropped down to no. 9 in the rankings and will now play at home against no. 24 Pueblo. The winner of that game will advance on to face no. 8 Peoria, who will be coming off of a bye.
