The landscaping and look of a 10-acre industrial park — including a two-story Kinkaid Civil building — east of Higley Road and north of Thomas Road were discussed at a recent meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board.
The land is zoned light industrial. A planned area development rezoning is being sought to allow for lots to face off of a private access road, Staff Planner Josh Grandlienard said at the board’s March 14 meeting.
“There are definitely some elevation challenges on this site so as part of that there is significant grading,” he said. “Overall, there are nine different buildings on site. The majority of buildings are of general spec with Kinkaid Civil specifically on lot 9, which is that two-story office building located on the east side of the site plan.”
The landscape plan includes Chinese elm, mulga and sweet acacia, Grandlienard said.
Rauf Moosavi of Moosavi Design is the applicant for Higley 202 Industrial Commerce. Boyle Family LP is the owner.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
