Several hundred area adults who braved a windy and cold morning attended a recent Apache Junction Senior Expo hosted by Independent Newsmedia that showcased more than 30 businesses as vendors and sponsors.
The Apache Junction Senior Expo held the morning of Jan. 8 at Central Arizona College, 805 S. Idaho Road in Apache Junction, included resource booths, merchandise giveaways, free massages and demonstrations.
Rhonda Boline of Apache Junction attended to get information on Medicare, the federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older.
“I’m almost to the senior state of Medicare and I need information and this is the best place to get it. I did get some referrals for new doctors and new windows,” she said.
Helen Traynor, a seasonal resident of Apache Junction, liked to go to the senior expo in part for the vendor giveaways.
“Because they’re fun — giveaways and contests and stuff. I did get some information from an information and referral place,” she said.
Cathy Carey of Apache Junction sought information on senior care.
“I just wanted to see what they had here. I feel like I had at least three things I’m going to follow-up on. Two were senior care, she said.
