Federal patent easements on La Barge Road and Canyon Street, both near the city of Apache Junction, may be abandoned and extinguished, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors decided recently.
The supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 1 to approve a resolution on the change on La Barge Road, from Reavis Street to Bell Street, which is east of Apache Junction and is being sought by property owners Mark and Connie Brooks.
“This is located east of the Prospector Road alignment in the Mining Camp area,” Celeste Garza, assistant county engineer, said to the supervisors.
“The Brooks family ... would like this abandoned; there is no through street in this location. The property owners to the north and south have access off of La Barge to the north or Reavis (Street) to the south,” she said.
In a separate vote, the supervisors voted unanimously to approve the abandonment and extinguishment of an easement comprising a portion of Canyon Street north of Apache Junction on property owned by William “Fred” Ogram.
“This is located east of Wolverine, north of McKellips,” Garza said. “Canyon Street to the east is already abandoned, so this is a small segment in front of his property that he would like to fence around and prevent people from walking through.”
