Mesa Council approves contract increase of $500K for roof repair

The contract increase was approved as part of a multi-item consent agenda that passed 6-0 – with Councilmember Scott Somers absent — during the Mesa City Council’s April 15 meeting.
The Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department will receive a $500,000 increase in the annual dollar limit on their contract for roofing repairs and installation services.
The contract increase was approved as part of a multi-item consent agenda that passed 6-0 – with Councilmember Scott Somers absent — during the Mesa City Council’s April 15 meeting.
The contract will go from $2 million annually to $2.5 million annually. The contract is paid out to Foam Experts Roofing Inc., a Mesa business; Progressive Services Inc. dba Progressive Roofing; and Sprayfoam Southwest Inc. dba Global Roofing Group.
“The department has several locations, unknown when the contract was awarded in 2021, where roof repairs are needed, due to cycle replacement,” a council report said. “The locations for these projects are as follows: the Brown Road Water Treatment Plant; Transportation; Northwest Water Reclamation Plant; Greenfield Water Reclamation Plant; East Mesa Service Center; Senior Center; Kellwood Electric Substation; Arizona Museum of Natural History Annex; Hobson Storage; Main Library; and Parks Storage Annex.”
The contract, which is in its third year, is set to expire on Aug. 31, 2024, but has a two-year renewal option.
