Portion of Apache Junction library roof to be recoated
Special to Independent Newsmedia, Arianna Grainey
Before the recoating work is done, a 11,074-square-foot portion of the roof at the library, 1177 N. Idaho Road, will be cleaned with a 2,000-psi pressure washer at a cost of 31 cents per square foot.
A 11,074-square-foot roof section at Apache Junction Public Library will be repaired and recoated under a more than $52,000 contract approved recently by the City Council.
The council voted unanimously Nov. 21 to approve a $52,720.75 contract with Centimark Corp. for the library building roof recoating.
The contract includes cleaning the roof, performing any necessary repairs and installing a surface primer, white silicone coating and rock covering over the prepped application. There will be a 10-year warranty on the defects in material and workmanship, Administrative Services Manager Heather Hodgman said in a memo to the council.
“The section we’re talking about, the last time it was done was 10 years ago so we have no warranty on it,” she said during the council meeting. “So this is just to do preventative maintenance on the section of the roof.”
The roof at the library, 1177 N. Idaho Road, will be cleaned with a 2,000-psi pressure washer at a cost of 31 cents per square foot. With 11,074 square feet of roof, it comes to $3,432.94, according to the contract.
The contract also states:
A two-person crew will do the roof investigation and repair at a cost of $180 an hour for a total of $7,200;
A prime substrate will be applied for a total of $6,201.44;
A silicon roof coating will cost $30,213.56;
The rock coating will cost $4,897.63; and
The prime contractor 10-year manufacturer warranty on restoration services will cost $775.18.
