Gilbert chamber honors top businesses, individuals as CEO Kathy Tilque heads to retirement

Kathy Tilque, Gilbert Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, bid farewell to the chamber as it recognized top companies and individuals at its 14th annual business awards luncheon June 17.

Tilque is retiring June 30 to run for Gilbert Town Council.

“This is definitely a team sport,” Tilque said about the chamber’s work in supporting businesses. “It's never about one person. It's about us being together. I'm just so honored to have the opportunity to work with all of you. It's my hope I can continue to serve.”

Also at the luncheon, outgoing board Chair Matt Streeper from Salt River Project handed the gavel to new Chair Jasmine Holmes of 910 West.


“We face many challenges in the year ahead,” Holmes said. “However, I am confident we will overcome whatever may come our way, and we'll continue to serve as a catalyst for growth within our awesome local business community.”

Banner Health and Dignity Health shared the Big Business of the Year award for their response in the community to the coronavirus pandemic.

Andrew John from John’s Refrigeration was named Businessman of the Year, and Kami Cothrun of PS Academy Arizona was named Businesswoman of the Year.

  • Midsize Business of the Year: Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa
  • Small Business of the Year: Midwest Food Bank
  • Chamber Volunteer of the Year: Kevin DeRosa
  • Chamber Foundation Volunteer of the Year: Deb Carr
  • Gilbert Leadership Award: Brigette Peterson
