Candidates who filed statements of interest to seek open seats on the Litchfield Elementary School District and Agua Fria Union High School District governing boards have until Monday, July 6 to file paperwork for placement on the Tuesday, Nov. 3 ballot.
Three seats are open on each board.
Agua Fria Union High School District
AFUHSD serves students in Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Waddell. It operates five high schools, Agua Fria in Avondale, Verrado in Buckeye, Desert Edge and Millenium in Goodyear, and Canyon View in Waddell.
Seats held by Gina DeCoste, Mariana Sandoval and Mary Kay Utecht are open.
Ms. DeCoste is the only incumbent who filed a statement of interest. Ms. Sandoval is a Distrct 13 candidate for the state House of Representatives. Ms. Utecht did not file.
Also filing statements of interest were Kristen Acton, Maricela Alvarez-Montes, Amparo Acosta, Jeremy August Hoenack, James David Schwake and Terry Trey.
Litchfield Elementary School District
LESD serves students in Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear and Litchfield Park. It operates 11 elementary schools, Corte Sierra and Rancho Santa Fe in Avondale; Verrado and Verrado Heritage in Buckeye; Belen Soto, Mabel Padgett and Palm Valley in Goodyear; and Barbara B. Robey, Dreaming Summit, Litchfield Elementary and Scott L. Libby Elementary in Litchfield Park. It also operates five middle schools, Verrado in Buckeye, Western Sky in Goodyear and L. Thomas Heck, Wigwam Creek and White Tanks Learning Center in Litchfield Park.
All three incumbents, Danielle Clymer, Dr. Tawnya Pfitzer and Melissa Zuidema, filed statements of interest.
Also filing statements of interest were Christopher Brandon Berry, Ren Fahey, August Hoenack, Adam G. Schwartz and Chelsea Spicer.
