Glendale police arrest homicide suspect from March shooting
Posted
A Phoenix man is in custody as a suspect in a Glendale homicide from earlier this spring.
Just after 8:30 p.m. back on March 19, Glendale patrol officers responded to 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road after a 911 call of a shooting at a nearby apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with several gunshot wounds, and immediately used issued trauma kits to provide lifesaving first aid.
The victim was transported to a local Valley hospital in critical condition. It was reported that the initial trauma first aid provided by officers on scene helped in the victim’s survival for a month beyond the shooting.
The victim was identified as 69-year-old Hubert Moore, Glendale resident, and he was pronounced deceased on April 26.
While the victim was alive, he was able to speak with detectives. Mr. Moore had identified his assailant, and said the man came to Mr. Moore’s apartment with a gun, allegedly confronting him about a battery charger, and then shooting him several times.
The suspected shooter was identified as 38-year-old Dion Trent Walton, of Phoenix. On Monday, May 3, Mr. Walton was located by detectives in Phoenix and taken into custody. He had the firearm on his person when arrested, and admitted to the shooting.
Mr. Walton was arrested and booked for one count of 2nd degree murder and one count of weapons misconduct for prohibited possessor.
