Longing for childhood days of make believe? Mythic heroes slaying dragons, sea maidens appearing from the sea, steel-clad warriors jousting atop mighty steeds and knights in shining armor saving damsels in distress? This can all be found at the Arizona Renaissance Festival.
The annual festival is held on weekends in February and March in its fanciful European-style village constructed on a 30-acre site just below the foothills of the Superstition Mountains, southeast of Apache Junction and east of Queen Creek.
The festival is celebrating its 32nd season of pomp and pageantry, according to a release.
The Arizona Renaissance Festival runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-March 29 (plus Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 17), at 12601 E. U.S. Highway 60, just past Gold Canyon Golf Resort. For visitor information, call 520-463-2700 or go to RenFestInfo.com.
Cheer for brave knights. Roam the festival village filled with whimsical castles, cottages, pubs and 14 stages of nonstop performances of music, mermaids, merriment, dance, acrobatics and comedy, the release states.
Foolish pleasures mix with artisan treasures as you shop, eat and revel with a cast of nearly 2,000 colorfully costumed characters.
Discount ticket prices are $26 for adults and $16 for children ages 5-12 when purchased at Fry’s Food stores. Children under 5 are always free.
Tickets purchased at the festival are $2 more. Senior discount tickets are $25 for those 60 and older, available only on festival days at the front gate ticket booth. Parking is free, courtesy of Fry’s Food stores.
