Apache Junction High School student Tiffany Hutchenson awarded 2024 Community Education Scholarship

Tiffany Hutchenson, a student at Apache Junction High School, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Community Education (Arts) Scholarship.

The scholarship is granted to students who exhibit exceptional dedication to the arts and academic excellence and will provide the recipient $1,500 per semester for the first year at Arizona State University, according to a release from Apache Junction Unified School District.

Hutchenson plans to attend Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in the fall to study fashion design with an emphasis on business administration.

Hutchenson was nominated by Apache Junction High School Advisor Cheryl King-Anderson for her outstanding commitment to the fine arts department at AJHS throughout her high school career.

“Tiffany’s achievements in both academics and the arts have earned her this well-deserved recognition,” King-Anderson said in the release.

Students vying for the Arizona Lecture Series Scholarship must meet stringent criteria, including a minimum of three years of involvement in a fine arts class and maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Additionally, applicants are required to submit a comprehensive essay outlining their high school experience in the fine arts department, their post-high school plans, and how the scholarship will support their educational goals. Furthermore, applicants must provide information on their college applications, references and enrollment status in a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Apache Junction High School Principal Lisa Ginn expressed her excitement about Tiffany’s accomplishment, stating, “Tiffany’s passion for the arts and overall academic excellence makes her an ideal recipient for the 2024 Community Education (Arts) Scholarship. We’re thrilled to see her hard work and talent recognized in this way.”
