Superstition Acres Press, a Gold Canyon business, has released “Spark Riders: The First Flame” by T.L. Shaw, the first title in a seven-book adventure series for readers ages 8–12.
The First Flame brings together five kids across continents whose lives become connected through mysterious notebooks. From the Navajo Nation and Arizona’s Superstition Mountains to China, Brazil, Egypt and Japan, the story follows five 12 year olds as they face challenges, solve problems, and recognize that cooperation offers the smoothest path forward, using abilities they already possess, according to a release.
Free parent and teacher resources accompanying The First Flame are available through the Superstition Acres Press at superstitionpress.com. The resources align with selected chapters and are designed to reinforce themes including caring for others, trusting yourself, curiosity and experiencing the natural world.
“Spark Riders: The First Flame” is available in Kindle, paperback and hardcover editions. The second book in the series, “Spark Riders: Kezbah and the Long Road,” is slated for November 2026.
The business is an imprint of Venture Up Media, a division of Arizona-based Venture Up, established in 1983. Venture Up began as an adventure guide service and evolved into a team-building company serving organizations across the U.S. and abroad.
Shaw is co-founder of Venture Up. Travel and immersion in diverse cultures inspire her writing.
