‘Faith & Blue’ gatherings in Apache Junction Oct. 9-10

Gatherings this weekend are bringing Apache Junction Police Department together with more than half a dozen local faith communities for two days centered on connection, conversation and community.

As part of National Faith & Blue Weekend (https://faithandblue.org), local law enforcement and faith leaders are creating opportunities for residents to connect with officers outside of a call for service and build relationships in a relaxed setting, according to a release.

The events include:

• 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, United in Faith: A Night of Prayer at Church of the Pentecost/Phoenix City Church, 1180 E. Broadway Ave. in Apache Junction: Faith leaders from across the community will join AJPD and residents for an evening of prayer, music and conversation. The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet 6–6:30 p.m., followed by the program.
• 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, Community Potluck & Toy Drive at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 2122 S. Goldfield Road in Apache Junction: A large, family-focused community gathering featuring a potluck, toy drive, live music, a bounce house, yard games, community organizations, and police displays and demonstrations.
