Surprise City Manager Bob Wingenroth has spent a good deal of his life running, so it’s probably no surprise he knows how to “run” a city.
In fact, 14 years ago, he qualified for the Boston Marathon at age 50. It was one of about two dozen marathons Wingenroth has completed in a 30-year running career that ended when he wore out his hips.
“So, now I’m a walker,” Wingenroth said. “I try to walk at a fast pace because the beauty of running and the beauty of walking is the clarity of thought you can get.”
