Themes picked to help child development

WHAM Art Association has resumed classes for children at its West Gallery home, 16560 N. Dysart Road.

Those classes include:

• Drawing Classes for Your Little Ones — Art with CARree (ages 5 to 7) continues.

These classes are from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month. Themes for the next three classes have been planned and include:
• July 16 — Under The Sea Turtle
• Aug. 6 — Chinese Dragon
• Aug 20 — Night Owl

Kids art classes are designed to help create art in children’s development across many domains, physical, social, cognitive, emotional, imagination and experimentation development.

Art will help your child develop these skills and CARree is here to help each child develop and grow. Each class we will be concentrating on drawing techniques, most drawings will be able to be completed.

Classes cost $10 and all supplies will be provided.

Each class will have a minimum of four students and a maximum of eight. Parents and children are asked to enter on the southside classroom door.

• Clay with Connie — Kids Clay Class is a three-part class. The first two classes will be creating and building your clay piece, in the final class students will glaze their pieces.

Sessions are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 17, 18 and 24 with WHAM founder Connie Whitlock as the instructor.

Kids will be building a bird house and a cup they will be able to drink out of. The first two days will be making the clay pieces and last day for glazing.

The cost is $25. Students will need to come back and pick up pieces after final class of glazing.

All tools, clay, glazes and firing are provided with this class. The maximum class size is 10.
