West Valley Symphony maestro's combo to play Arts HQ

Posted

The next Lunchtime Theater performance at Arts HQ, 16126 N. Civic Center Drive, is a West Valley Symphony Jam Session from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16.

Join Maestro Cal Stewart Kellogg, music director and conductor of the West Valley Symphony, as he displays his other love - jazz – as Cal’s Jazz Combo returns to Arts HQ.

What separates jazz from the vast majority of classical pieces is a rhythmic device called ‘swing’ which calls for performers to change the values of quaver or eight-notes from equal to a ratio closely resembling two-thirds to one-third.

Reservations are required.

Reserve a spot by visiting westvalleyarts.org/theater or by calling West Valley Arts Council at 623-584-2626.

Tickets for this events are $15.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own meal or pick up lunch at any of the restaurants located on Bell Road. Seating opens at 11:30 a.m.
