Need traffic light to protect pedestrians

I have a traffic concern at 183rd and Bell; use caution, there is a crosswalk where a lot of kids cross leaving both the high school and elementary school. You must yield for the pedestrians in the cross walk and some drivers just don’t get it. There was a bad accident there. There needs to be a traffic signal activated by the people who cross Bell, or maybe a police officer there to help the kids cross. Please, before someone gets killed or seriously injured! — John Johnston

Caution needed

I go to the bus stop with my grandkids every morning and I’d say one out of every thousand cars stops for people waiting to cross. — Rebecca Blakesley

I was a crossing guard for Parkview Elementary for two years. There is no traffic light on Young Street, where children as young as kindergarten crossed. I found most people slowed down based on signs and my obvious presence, but there were always dangerous and angry drivers, who were talking on phones or simply daring me to stop them. Even standing in the crosswalk with outstretched arms holding stop signs did not deter the driver who simply did not care for human life. Case in point, we see hit-and-run accidents on the 6 o’clock news almost every day. It’s a very serious problem Indeed. cross Bell there. — Linda Silbor
