The public hearing comes in anticipation of the city receiving approximately $748,125 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through Surprise’s citizen participation plan.
Surprise’s consolidated plan outlines the city’s goals as they relate to housing and community development needs. It also enables officials and residents to solve neighborhood and community problems together.
Residents can also leave comments on the city’s intended use of Home Investment Partnerships Program funds.
Surprise will receive HOME funds through an agreement with Maricopa County as the lead agency for the Maricopa HOME Consortium.
The funding amount for HOME is approximately $200,000.
The city is also working on its second-year annual action plan for the program year that begins July 1, 2026.
