Thanks to The Colonnade, Sun Health, Director of Facilities Tim Landis and several of his employees and members of Desert Palms Presbyterian Church of Sun City West, a U-Haul truck was filled with 144 donated chairs from The Colonnade on May 3 to be delivered to First Presbyterian Church in Douglas.
This project began when Pastor Jim Crelin of Desert Palms shared on a Sunday that the First Presbyterian Church of Douglas was in need of financial support due to an arsonist fire on May 22, 2023, that destroyed the entire sanctuary along with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
The Desert Palms Mission Committee recently sent financial support to assist with the need to help rebuild the sanctuary. This historic small church is in need of $100,000 for their rebuild.

The committee covered delivery expenses, including cost of the U Haul, fuel and overnight lodging. A Go Fund Me Page is available for outside donations.
First Presbyterian Church has a great history as it was organized in 1903 and began holding services in 1907. It has been assisting a bilingual community in southeast Arizona since its founding.
Currently the fellowship is meeting in a classroom and working with the insurance company to remove all of the interior due to smoke and fire damage.
Although a donation of 144 chairs may seem like a small donation it will help as the congregation moves forward.
