Surprise closes stretch of Bullard for holiday events

Posted

For the safety of those attending city of Surprise holiday events near the Surprise Recreation Campus, Bullard Avenue will be closed between Paradise and Tierra Buena lanes 24 hours a day from Nov. 30 through Jan. 3.

The south Surprise Regional Library parking lot will also be closed during this time.

These closures may affect a traditional route (but will not limit access to) the library, Surprise City Court, the tennis and raquet complex, aquatic center, Surprise Community Park and dog park, Surprise City Hall, etc.

See closure & parking map.

Alternate routes:

  • From Bell Road heading south on Bullard Avenue, traffic will be detoured east on Paradise Lane, around the curve to travel west on Tierra Buena Lane.
  • From Greenway Road heading north on Bullard Avenue, traffic will be detoured east on Tierra Buena Lane, around the curve to travel west on Paradise Lane.
  • The Surprise Stadium parking lot is limited to access from Paradise Lane to Buck O’Neil Way.

Even with this closure in place, Surprise reminds drivers to slow down, pay attention to the road and be mindful of pedestrians so the community can enjoy these events safely.

Surprise Party • 5-9 p.m. Dec. 1-2,

Enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment experiences including a foam snow party, food trucks, a vendor village, kid zone and photo opportunities with Santa in Santa’s Workshop presented by Palm Valley Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. Sparkling Surprise • nightly from 5:30-10 p.m. Dec. 1-Jan. 2,

This display of about 200,000 holiday lights and light features spanning the Surprise Recreation Campus, including Surprise Community Park and outside Surprise Stadium, is even bigger than last year. Sparkling Surprise is a free attraction with a new 36-foot-tall, 18,000-light musical Christmas tree; themed lands including toy land, under the sea and candy cane lane; floating trees on the lake and more. You’ll encounter numerous spots for selfies, group shots and family photos.
