The Grand Ladies Golf Association led a charity tournament March 2 at Granite Falls South Golf Course in Sun City Grand attended by 188 participants who raised $9,900 through hole sponsorships, raffles, optional games and donations.
There were absolutely no expenses. Local Realtors gifted swag bags for the participants.
The monies were donated as follows:
• Surprise Police Department Victim Assistance Unit: $3,420.50
• Luke Spouses’ Club: $2,441.50
• Heart 2 Heart Animal rescue: $1,831.50
• Chance Shelter: $2,206.50.
Optional games were successful and fun.
For a $5 donation on Granite Falls South hole No. 9 the golf professional would hit the tee shot. That raised a total of $1,285.
For a $5 donation on two par 3s the player had a chance to win $1,000 for a hole-in-one. A frame with ten 100 bills was offered by Discount Golf Cars of Sun City West to the winner.
Unfortunately there were no holes-in-one, but these two games raised $1,275.
