Letters: Qualities set apart one D2 candidate

Posted

It is with great honor and excitement that I provide an endorsement for Alison (Aly) Cline as a city councilmember for the city of Surprise.

Aly holds all three qualities of government service — leadership, commitment and service. I first had the pleasure of meeting Aly in 2014, as she was developing the Greater Surprise Read-On, and serving as the president of the Friends of Surprise Library. For the next five years I had many opportunities to collaborate with her and connect with her.

Aly demonstrated significant leadership in the development of the Greater Surprise Read-On. Her capacity to bring all the key players to the table was very evident. I was also impressed by her ability to not only develop purposeful short-term goals but support a very intentional long-term plan.

She has dedicated hundreds of hours in volunteer work in the area of literacy, community engagement, and support of our local schools. She is very compassionate about her community, and truly cares deeply about the success of Surprise.

I have no doubts that Aly will hit the pavement running to continue the great things that occur in Surprise daily, but to also elevate the sense of community and common sense local government.
