Funding continues for Surprise congregate meal program

The city of Surprise approved an Area Agency of Aging grant of $22,500 for salaries and expenses related to the city’s congregate meal program.

The Surprise City Council on Tuesday accepted the money to continue the program that has been in place since 2004.

This grant award provides $22,500 for the special event hosting expenses for the meal program as well as a portion of part-time salaries. There is a 10% in-kind city match requirement of $2,300, which will be met with Human Services and Community Vitality Department’s operating budget. That makes the total grant budget $24,800.
