Legislative action is needed by March 1 or school districts statewide will have to cut a total of $1.2 billion of their already approved budgets.
What that looks like for the Dysart Unified School District is a $30 million budget cut in the fourth quarter of the school year.
“Right now I don’t know that I can cut $30 million out of the budget as we already have contracts in place. We will work hard to be as least disruptive as possible,” Ken Hicks, assistant superintendent of business services said.
