Dysart alums question school safety plan, investigation

A group of former Dysart High School students continue to question school and district administrators about their former school’s safety plan, including an investigation by the Arizona Department of Education into their concerns.

Former Dysart High School Student Body Vice President Cali Overs was spearheading an effort that included Dayna Siquieros, former student body president, Aubrey Messmer, former student body secretary, Joan de la Cruz, former student body treasurer, and Karma Wilson in questioning the Dysart Unified School District.

Overs, who graduated in the spring, returned to speak during the Oct. 5 governing board meeting regarding concerns she raised earlier in the year about the high school’s safety protocols and practices. She was one of the three speakers during the meeting whose microphone was cut off at the 90-second mark.
