Before leaving the high school coaching ranks 12 years ago to serve as the Associate Head Coach at Arizona Christian University, Jeff Bowen was known for his precision Wing-T offense as the Westview head coach.
After to years as the head coach of the Firestorm, Bowen did not return to the high school ranks at Willow Canyon to turn back the clock. Indeed, he and his staff want the Wildcats to use as little of the clock as possible between offensive snaps.
That tempo was on display at Willow Canyon’s May 23 spring game as Bowen and his staff barked out down and distance and the game situation while imploring the offense to get set at the line of scrimmage and call the next play. For the entire scrimmage portion of the spring game, the Wildcats were in a variant of the spread offense.
