Benevilla thanks board after trying year
Leadership lauded after trying 2020
Posted
Benevilla leadership recently thanked its board of directors who have successfully met head-on the challenges of 2020 and the COVID19 pandemic.
“It was a difficult year of constantly adapting and finding ways to restructure our programs and services to continue to serve the community,” states Benevilla President and CEO Joanne Thomson. “The leadership and direction of our board has been extraordinary.”
Benevilla was created as a not-for-profit organization in 1981 by citizens of the Sun Cities out of concern local services were not readily available to the community’s residents. Their mission was to promote health and independence by providing supportive services to their neighbors.
Then, a group of 30 volunteers helping with errands and home care services and a handful of employees. Today, a network of Life Enrichment Day Programs, numerous support and educational services, daycare and nursery, comprehensive care-management programs, and social activities — all directed by a caring, dedicated, and innovative 17-member Board of Directors that continues to keep Benevilla relevant and a critically important resource in the northwest Valley.
The 2020 Benevilla Board of Directors include chair Conrad Graff, vice chair Shannon Arriola, treasurer Larry Vering, co-secretary Harriet Doolittle, co-secretary Lora Johnson and directors John Bridgford, Merlyn Carlson, Arlene Dixson, Delaine Donohue, Birt Kellam, Kim Sterner, Oana Constantinescu, Dick Stuckey, Patricia Lewis Finnell, Dawn Tompkins, Gary Frisch and Brian Laurie.
Throughout 2020, the Benevilla Board of Directors served more than 800 hours in service to the success of the organization and to the people it serves.
While many also juggled personally and professional hurdles over the year, the dedication of the Benevilla Board never dwindled when help was needed.
